Mu Gong is the Chinese Taoist God of Immortality and 'Lord of the East'. He is the embodiment of Yang (the male element). Xi Wang-Mu, the female element Yin, is his wife and together they created the heaven and the earth and everything that lives. She is also referred to as the 'Royal Mother of the West', and rules over the western paradise of the immortals. Originally she was a terrifying tiger-woman who brought the plague, but under the influence of Taoism she became a benign goddess.
