THE RICHARD MACDONALD WORKSHOP 2002 - MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA

Here are some pictures from the workshop. We had professional models every day in the studio working with oil based clay which is the process for making a final bronze sculpture. Enjoy! and click on each picture for an enlarged version.

Day One and Two

9 hours was spent on this piece sculpting from a live model. The emphasis was always on the gesture and attitude the model takes.

Day Three

Richard taught us "line of sight" where you line your piece up with the model. This helps to see what's wrong with it. He also had us pinpoint each bone with orange sticks which is a process of measuring the distance between each part of the body.
